Overnight, winds gusted to 74km/h throughout Ballarat, but surprisingly there were only four calls out for assistance, all for trees down across the region.
Statewide the SES was called out to 90 jobs, mostly for trees down across the state.
And conditions are only expected to get worse, with the temperature to hover around nine degrees on Saturday and barely moving to 10 on Sunday.
Winds are also expected to continue switching from the north-west to south-west over the coming hours with more rain on the way.
