The top dressing of the wicket is expected to be completed by Wednesday while it is on track to be right for round one of the BCA first grade season, beginning on October 6.
Wakeling said the competition had never had so many ground options at the start of a season, easing the pressure on fixturing in a great plus for the league.
Wakeling said the council had been fantastic in supporting the developments and in turn, football and cricket. Football finals have long been played on the Eastern Oval, but this week’s fixture will see a move to City Oval, a happy medium for the two sports.
“They’ve been fantastic, we’ve got to think about both sports..and never have we had so many options to start a season,” Wakeling said.
The turf nets wickets are on track to be completed by December.
