Pupils in grades three to six formed groups to develop products as part of the Smith Family Young ICT Explorers program.
They showed their inventions, including a remote control dog bowl and keyboard, to parents at an open morning on Thursday.
All 13 creations were judged as finalists in the competition and will be displayed at Deakin University on Saturday.
Sebastopol Primary School principal Michelle Wilson said the competition was a great opportunity for the pupils to collaborate, be curious and experiment with technology.
She said it was important to encourage STEM in primary schools.
“STEM is the future. If we can make that part of their day to day learning when they are young, that will set them in good stead with the right skills and attitudes to be using that in their later life in their community and with their future work.”
