Vikings are two points off second-placed Moreland United who look likely winners against bottom three side Essendon United on the weekend, but all Sebastopol can do is earn the three points against fellow quality outfit Sunbury United.
Coach Corey Smith usually keeps a game-focused outlook, simply aiming to claim as many points each week as possible. But this week is different, given this is the final round of the FFV state league three north-west season, there is a more holistic view.
“This week, for the first time, we're looking at it as not just one game but the whole season,” Smith said.
"We've focused our week around getting 40 points for the season, that will get you promoted in most leagues in Victoria. If we can get to the 40-point mark we give ourselves an opportunity.
"I want to see the players express themselves and finish the season on a high in what has been a pretty amazing season regardless.
"The mood in the group is good considering what a devastating loss it was (last week), but in saying that, it was devastating because of the position we put ourselves in.”
Lee Stevens will miss the clash with an ankle injury while Adrian Curtain, who was a late withdrawal last week, is a 50/50 chance to play.
