Rykers, who is set to feature in the grand final – also for a second year running, polled 19 votes to end the count five clear of runner-up Warrnambool’s Ryan Bail.
The Ballarat soccer veteran previously captained the Vikings in the Football Federation Victoria state league five competition but returned to the BDSA last season.
“I didn’t think I was going to win it twice that’s for sure, big shock,” Rykers said.
“I thought our team did really well (this season). We won the league in the end with a game or two to go and just all the boys that I play with, it’s a good bunch.”
Megan Armstrong from Ballarat Eureka Strikers claimed the division one women’s best and fairest award just one vote clear of joint runners-up Tayte Fraser (Ballarat) and Leah Cushion (Ballarat North United).
“Winning it was a total surprise, I’m still shaking,” Armstrong said.
“It means a lot, it has really opened my eyes that people actually do notice what you do on the pitch. It’s a real honour.”
The Vikings’ Dylan Jeffrey won the division two best and fairest award despite only playing half the season.
