A cold front is forecast to enter the west of the state tomorrow, moving over Ballarat by the evening and clearing the east of the state on Wednesday morning.
Before it hits, Ballarat could reach a top of 22 degrees.
Damaging winds around 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h could to develop Tuesday afternoon about elevated areas in the state’s west, extending eastward during the late afternoon and evening.
Northerly wind gusts to 90 km/h are also possible.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees,
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony,
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
This risk will move east with the cold front later on Tuesday evening.
A squally westerly change will follow the cold front, with winds away from the southwest coast easing overnight.
