Sportsmen Association of Australia’s Ballarat branch is hosting the Central Highlands Football League rookie night at Ballarat Golf Club on Wednesday at 6.30pm.

There are eight rookie nominees, Lachlan Conlan (Ballan), Blake Welsh (Clunes), Liam Blake (Creswick), Jordan Grant (Hepburn), Patrick Parr (Newlyn), Jeremy Richardson (Rokewood-Corindhap), Bailey Thompson (Skipton) and Flynn Donegan (Springbank).
The criteria for rookie nomination is the nominee must be a product of the club’s juniors and have played at least one game for the senior club this season.
Past winners of the award have gone on to establish themselves as key players in the competition.
Last year’s winner Buninyong onballer Jacob Coxall was one of the Bombers’ best players in the CHFL seniors grand final loss to Beaufort on Saturday.
Guest speaker will be Newlyn player Myles Sewell. He is a three-time North Ballarat Roosters premiership player and JJ Liston Trophy best and fairest winner.
