Ford is a past player and president at the club, with more 20 years involvement.
On the eve of the summer season, the club is preparing for a landmark moment.
Elaine will regain a senior team in the Buninyong and District Tennis Association, but even more significant than that is the fact it will play home games at Elaine for the first time in 25 years.
Elaine has been unable to host matches due to not having sufficient courts.
But development on the courts and club rooms has given it the chance every club should have, and that is to play at its home facilities.
Such is the excitement, Ford will return to the court, a fair effort from the experienced campaigner in his late 60s.
Club secretary Shane Dunne said he never thought he’d see the day that a senior team would play at Elaine.
“I never thought Elaine would have a senior team again, ever,” Dunne said.
Dunne thanked the Moorabool Shire for all its work to help the club to get to this point.
Elaine is seeking all interested players.
Training is on Thursday’s from 5pm and all keen players, both juniors and seniors, are encouraged.
