UPGRADES to the Beaufort Rail Bridge have been completed, forming part of the $659.7 million Western Highway – Ballarat to Stawell duplication project which has been jointly funded by the federal and state governments.
Wannan MP Dan Tehan said the works on the bridge which was built in 1965 increased its load capacity to 110 tonnes, bringing it in-line with current heavy vehicle standards.
Western Victorian MP Jaala Pulford said the upgrade ensured higher capacity freight vehicles can travel over the bridge.
“We’re making these improvements to boost productivity and make it easier to do business,” Ms Pulford said.
