The Kangaroos advanced with a thumping 72-point over Darley in the preliminary final at the City Oval on Saturday.

East Point produced close to season-best form to jump the Devils against the odds in the first quarter – kicking five goals into a strong wind to lead by 28 points.

The Jake Bridges-coached outfit added another four majors to one in the second term as the match was as good as over.

Darley dominated territory in a subdued third quarter to give the scoreboard some respectability, but in the big picture it was clear that the reigning premier’s season was over.

This will be East Point’s first grand final appearance since 2009, when it lost to Redan by 43 points.

East Point is yet to win a premiership, having been formed with the merger of Golden Point and East Ballarat for the 2001 season.
