The Kangaroos jumped the last hurdle by thrashing Darley by 72 points in a sometimes fractious preliminary final at the City Oval on Saturday.
They meet Melton in the grand final.
East Point produced easily its best performance of the finals, not only out-classing the Devils, but beating the reigning premier at its own game with emphatically more contested possessions.
East Point took the game away from Darley in the opening term – setting up a 28-point lead into the wind and stretching this out to 55 points by half-time. There was no coming back from there for the Devils, despite a mercurial display by coach Heath Scotland, who did not waste a disposal, and a big game by Steve Kennedy.
For the Kangaroos, the further the day went the more confident they became.
Matt Johnston shrugged off plenty of close attention early to lead from the front with youngsters Clay Bilney, Joel Ottavi (4 goals), Jordan Johnston (3 goals) and Jacob Brown.
Chris Carson was inspirational, bobbing up forward and back, while Paul Koderenko was a powerhouse in the ruck , Mitch Walsh and Bryson McDougall firm in defence, and Daniel Semmens and Lucas Dahlenburg prominent in a game which saw players lift across the board.
