Neither side had scored by half-time, Sebastopol Vikings then gained the ascendancy in the early stages of the second half, jumping out to a 2-0 lead.
All looked to be going to plan with less than half an hour to play before the Rangers stormed back into the contest.
The first goal came from a penalty, the second came soon after and before Vikings had time to think about their next move Warrnambool had scored another to race ahead.
Vikings had chances in the final 10 minutes, but the Rangers were strong in defence and held on for a stunning victory.
Warrnambool player and coach Cameron Pyke was rapt with his group.
He said the team showed fantastic character to will their way back into the game and that was led by a lot of the youngsters in the side.
“We knew if we were close by the end our young legs would show through and we just found another gear to go to,” Pyke said.
“We just found that inner strength to keep going.
“I think they (our youngsters) showed a lot of maturity beyond their years...to stand up when the pressure was on, as a club, we couldn’t be more proud that our juniors have stepped up to seniors and they’re flying the flag at that level.”
