Students completed multiple types of writing, such as poems and short stories, and have taken inspiration from the various artworks throughout the gallery.
Federation University students also took part in the workshop, playing the role of writing mentors; the writing mentors helped students excel by furthering their writing abilities through methods such as metaphors and other various poetic devices.
I was lucky enough to take part in this workshop and enjoy two Thursdays exploring the gallery, admiring some of the amazing artwork that it holds.
An example of the work we completed is my piece on the painting A Summer Morning Tiff by Tom Roberts, completed in 1886.
She Wanders – Benjamin Tysoe
The air is nectarous,
Laced with morning dew,
The forest is treacherous,
An intrusion long overdue,
She wanders slow,
With Her mind lost in thought,
Her brain’s a whirling tornado,
But she’s not distraught,
The trail is gone,
Now she wanders free.
