The co-founder of Rotary in Russia has paid Ballarat a visit to view the region’s tourist destinations and strengthen relationships with his fellow Rotarians.

Doctor Vladimir Donskoy took a tour of Ballarat on Tuesday morning and was amazed by the city’s history.
“The beauty and history of the city was very special,” Dr Donskoy said.
The day began with a tour of Sovereign Hill, which Dr Donskoy said was breathtaking.
“I really enjoyed it, to see all the people in costume and teaching visitors about history was great,” he said.
“Seeing the children so interested in the history of (Sovereign Hill) is very good, because teaching the youth about the past is very important.”
Dr Donskoy co-founded Rotary in his native Russia in 1990, and has been a professor at universities around the world.
He arrived in Australia late last week and will be spending time in Geelong and Ballarat before flying off to Hobart.
Dr Donskoy enjoys returning to Australia because he has great relationships here.
“I come to Ballarat because I have friends here (a dinner with his fellow Rotarians). It is wonderful because I will get to meet more people, make more friends and create better relationships here.”
When asked about the relationship between Australia and Russia, Dr Donskoy answered positively.
“Our relationship is neutral, however I feel we are very similar, both of our nations take the initiative and get things done, without waiting for red tape.”
