A large bronze installation from NSW artist Peter Lundberg was shrouded in plastic early yesterday before being unwrapped for public display.
BOAA artistic director Julie Collins said the countdown was on ahead of the six-week festival’s opening on Friday.
“BOAA really does showcase the diversity of Australian art. It shows what people are doing from this far flung country, and how their environment and where they live affects the type of art they make,” she said.

“It’s an important exhibition because it allows everybody to see what it actually means to be Australian and an Australian artist. Artists hold up mirror to our souls: they are telling our story.”
BOAA runs from September 21 to November 6.
