Ballarat’s Celebration of Remembrance on Thursday evening is a time to remember those whose song has finished but whose voice we still hear every day.

Ballarat Hospice Care and Ballarat Health Services’ Gandarra Palliative Care Unit co-host the ceremony, which is a chance for people to gather with others sharing similar emotions.

Space will be available for small photos or mementos of loved ones to be on display through the service.

Ballarat Hospice Care executive officer Carita Clancy said the service had been held annually since 1988, in a different venue each year to reflect the community’s diversity.

This year’s service will be at the Salvation Army Community Centre in Eureka Street from 6pm.

“The Celebration of Remembrance is for everyone who has lost someone close to them, no matter whether it was yesterday or years ago,” Ms Clancy said.

Hospice also hosts a ceremony for remembrance for children later in the year.
