After winning the group 3 MRC Foundation Cup on Saturday, the horse has been lifted 1kg to 52kg for both the Caulfield and Melbourne cups.
Night’s Watch is assured of a run in the Caulfield Cup because of his victory on Saturday, but is not yet eligible for the Melbourne Cup.
The horse is currently rated an $8 second favourite for the Caulfield Cup behind stablemate Kings Will Dream and a $26 chance for the Melbourne Cup, which Weir won in 2015 with Prince of Penzance.
Night’s Watch started his career in New Zealand before being transferred to Weir after his initial four starts.
Since joining Weir, the five-year-old has won seven races and now has earnings of more than $400,000.
His success on Saturday was the first at group or listed level and followed a close-up third in the group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes behind Magic Consol.
The Caulfield Cup will be run on October 20.
