Beau Guest charged to victory in the 39th running of the John Collier Handicap at the weekend.
Guest finished clear of runner-up Jeremy Humber and third-placed Bob Braszell to win the Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club feature race.
All three place-getters were part of the second limit group.
Fran Pigeon (limit) was fourth, with David Hearn (3rd limit) fifth and Joe van Dyk (3rd limit) coming home in sixth position.
Ricardo Pinto recorded the fastest time of 2:05.30hr, with an average speed of 40.7km/h.
Life was made tough for the chasing packs on Saturday given a very favourable northerly breeze which saw high speeds from competing riders.
The inaugural winner of the John Collier Handicap was Kevin Howell, who was on hand to help with the presentations.
