A DRIVER of red hatchback has escaped uninjured after his car crashed into a light truck on the Western Highway this morning at Miners Rest.

Despite heavy damage to the vehicle, particularly to its front, the driver walked away uninjured.
Both police and fire crews were called out to the crash after early reports that the car was on fire.
The driver of the light truck was also uninjured.
Traffic was slowed on the east bound lanes of the freeway between the Miners Rest and Creswick Road overpasses, but it was not blocked.
It was a busy night in the region with emergency crews also called out to a house fire at Darley.
Seven trucks including crews from Ballarat and Melton attended the fire which is believed to have started in the roof of the house.
There were no injuries in the blaze with investigations into its cause continuing.
