McArthur was named in the Victorian Country Cricket League team of the season for his efforts with both bat and ball.
His 2017-18 home and away performances netted 657 runs at an average of 73 and included 18 wickets at 9.22.
Eight regional teams of the year were originally forwarded to the VCCL and all 96 players were considered for inclusion in the VCCL side. Performances in finals and Twenty20 matches (unless directly connected to the overall home-and-away ladder) were not taken into account when determining the team. Players competing in only the top grade of each association were eligible for selection.
“The VCCL team of the year is decided on the basis of total runs and wickets, the best averages and the most wicket-keeping dismissals. All other variables are discounted,” VCCL chairman of selectors Kelvin White said.
The team contains two opening batsmen, four top and middle order batsmen, an all-rounder, a wicket-keeper and four bowlers, at least one of whom has to be a spinner.
McArthur was named as the side’s number six batsman and was one of three players from the Central Highlands region.
