Beau Dazzle is one of three starters returning to Sportsbet-Ballarat for a second try at landing the $75,000 feature.
Eighth in the first running of the event last year, Beau Dazzle joins Costano Mille and Briconi, which was runner-up to Tasmanian visitor Woohoo a year a ago.
Beau Dazzle is attempting to end the longest winning drought of all the 16 acceptors, which include four emergencies.
The daughter of Danzero launched her career on October 8, 2013.
After 73 starts on 26 different tracks in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia she is still searching for her first victory.
Boal is hopeful The Hotham might be her moment.
“It’s a great concept, they should have more of them. It gives us battlers a chance at some good prizemoney,” he said.
“She’s paid her way for me...so she deserves a win.”
Beau Dazzle has had four seconds and six thirds for almost $50,000 in earnings, but has been placed just the once in her past 44 outings – a third at Berrigan in November last year.
The Hotham is a concept developed by online betting agency Sportsbet in conjunction with Ballarat Turf Club. Sportsbet has increased stakemoney $50,000 last year.
The 2007 Melbourne Cup winner, Efficient, will lead the field onto the track.
