The Ballarat community has celebrated its young people with an annual awards night at Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts on Friday.
Ballarat mayor Samantha McIntosh, the City of Ballarat’s Youth Council and ambassadors Macaylah Johnson and Sam Rizzo joined proud family and friends to recognise the nominees and winners of the youth awards.
The gala ceremony also included live music from Push Start finalist FLOC and acoustic artist Shun Dun as community sponsors presented the 12 categories.
There were a handful of winners aged between 12 and 25 years old from 99 nominations of young people making a positive contribution to the community.
The major awards recognise two young people in different age categories who have made consistent and genuine efforts in various aspects of their life.
Their stories, contribution and dedication to the community have been considered to be inspirational and demonstrate the true essence of the human spirit, of passionate leadership and determination to create positive change.
