‘Fire to Country’ is an initiative that aims to acknowledge and educate the importance of Aboriginal culture for members of the brigade and the community. The artists have previously completed a Koori Art Trail around the Lake Beaufort.
A member of the brigade has also designed a plaque acknowledging the Wadawurrung people as the traditional owners of the land.
The plaque features Bunjil (the eagle creator), the Crow (representing brotherhood) and the Brolga (representing sisterhood).
The painting and accompanying plaque will be installed outside the Snake Valley fire station on Linton-Carngham Road near a popular walking track.
The artwork and installations have been funded by a Pyrenees Shire grant, by the CFA Koori Inclusion Action Plan program and through the support of the brigade.
Snake Valley CFA also held its open day for families all over the region on Saturday.
