Leader Samantha Ratnam joined candidates Linda Zibell (Buninyong), Alice Barnes (Wendouree), Serge Simic (Ripon) and Lloyd Davies (Western Region) as the party began its campaign for the region’s voters.
State leader Samantha Ratnam said she felt a groundswell of support coming for the party across the state.
“When you elect Greens to any level of government, people like what they see,” Ms Ratnam said.
“They see hard working, dedicated, passionate and committed people who have dignity and believe in what they say.
“We know that people are sick of the politics of old, they are sick of politicians being corrupted by big corporate influence.
“I know that areas like this are talking about issues like food security, sustainable agriculture and the future of our regional and rural areas. It’s absolutely vital we have greens representing their needs.”
Buninyong candidate Linda Zibell said she was a big believer in the community having a voice, particularly in planning and environment.
“I’m really proud to be part of party that knows what it stands for and is a principled party,” she said.
Ripon candidate Serge Simic, a Blampied farmer, and former refugee said he decided to run as a candidate because he was upset at the state of politics in Australia.
Wendouree candidate Alice Barnes said she wanted to make a difference.
“I’m really concerned about what will happen to our future, not just in Ballarat but Australia and our species as a populatio,” she said.
