A car was fully engulfed in flames in Black Hill when firefighters arrived about 10.15pm, located out the front of a house at the corner of Edmond Street and Oliver Street.
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire spreading to the house, although the car was destroyed.
It is not yet known what started the blaze.
A nearby neighbour said they heard five loud bangs and came out of their house to see smoke. Emergency services arrived soon afterwards.
Police were also in attendance, talking to witnesses in the area.
The Courier understands two young kids were in the house at the time.
It took firefighters about 10 minutes to bring the blaze under control, although they remained on scene for almost an hour.
