A ute and sedan have collided at the middle of the intersection at Sturt Street and Errard Street.
Emergence services were called to the scene following the incident and are currently cleaning up the mess.
A woman enjoying a late lunch directly across from the crash described it as “so fast” and “a really loud bang”.
A combined approach is needed to sort out what is causing a series of crashes at six Sturt Street intersections, police and VicRoads say.
There were more than 70 similar accidents at the same six intersections – Ripon Street, Talbot Street, Ascot Street, Errard Street, Raglan Street and Lyons Street – in five years to June 30 last year.
