Last season’s Ballarat District Bowls Division champions proved too good for Lara on its home greens on Saturday, winning by 11 shots.
Buninyong picked up two rinks in the win, with skippers Neil Innes and Graeme Simpson successful for the hosts.
It had been a disappointing start to the 2018-19 campaign for Buninyong, which lost to Highton in round one before a thrashing at the hands of Bareena the following weekend.
But Saturday’s success has lifted the side off the bottom of the ladder and into ninth position.
It was a good weekend for the majority of BDBD representatives in the league, with Webbcona and Sebastopol also triumphant.
Webbcona proved too good for Victoria, winning by a massive 45 shots while taking all 18 points in the process.
The home side was best served by the rink of Chris Steenhuis, Ken Eppingstall, Tony Lang and skipper Barry McArthur, which won by 17 shots.
Saturday’s loss leaves Victoria winless from the opening three rounds and in last position on the table with a poor shot difference of -115.
Sebastopol’s super start to the season continued in Queenscliff.
The Kookaburras are still unbeaten after the five-shot win on the road and sit third on the ladder.
Glenn Sargent and Scott Roberts skippered Sebastopol to winning rinks in the 98-93 result.
Elsewhere, Bareena continued its undefeated start with a 14-shot win over Highton.
Despite the closeness of the overall margin, Bareena claimed all four rink battles to take 18 points from the fixture.
The round’s other victor was Ocean Grove, which got the better of Eastern Park. The Grovers won the contest by seven shots and are now placed second on the ladder behind Bareena.
