In September last year, the state government announced $150,000 would be spent investigating the possibility of establishing a new road linking the Midland Highway and the Western Freeway.
The study into the road was to explore the potential upgrade of Yankee Flat Road, which links the freeway and highway and connects Buninyong to Warrenheip.
Liberal candidate for Buninyong Andrew Kilmartin has called on the Andrews Government to release the results of the Buninyong Bypass feasibility study as soon as possible.
“Buninyong has waited far too long for this study and it’s clear that the Andrews Government doesn’t see it as a priority” Mr Kilmartin said.
Mr Howard met with VicRoads and community members at the weekend to discuss the plan.
He said he was frustrated at the length of time the study has taken, admitting it was unlikely to be released publicly before the State Election.
“In terms of the report, it’s not been finalised yet, a draft has only just gone to the minister,” he said.
“I don’t have any timelines. It’s only two weeks before we enter caretaker mode, the documentation has only just gone to him.
“I’ll admit, I’m a little frustrated that we didn’t get a more definitive document earlier.
“I’ve sort several briefings from VicRoads, to check where it’s at.
“I’m getting used to the fact they can take a while.”
