It is the third year the Rotary Club has held the charity Halloween party event, which will be held at Alfredton Recreation Reserve on Wednesday, October 31, from 5pm to 7pm.
Rotarian Garry Lyons said they had been receiving online inquiries for some time, asking if the event would be held again this year.
Party goers are encouraged to dress in their best Halloween costume and will receive a prize for their efforts and the Rotarians will also be giving away 650 free lolly bags during the evening.
The Alfredton Rotary Club was chartered in November 2013 and is the youngest club in Ballarat and the first to be created from a satellite club.
It differs from the traditional Rotary model in that it does not have a guest speaker or formal meal at meetings.
“Members come from all professions and perspectives and share a common desire to address the challenges affecting the local community and communities around the world,” Rotarian Kathy Rivett said.
She said, seven years on the club had been accepted into the Rotary International Satellite Club Program and was demonstrating that Rotary can be done differently.
The club’s many projects, both local and global, range from sourcing and distributing clothes and toiletries to those in need around Ballarat and holding the fishing competition in March at Lake Wendouree and the charity Garden Party at Kingston in November.
Internationally, the club works in rural Bali, providing health and dental care and funding farmer education programs.
“The club’s most recent joint project with Uniting Vic Tas, is the ‘Providing a Pathway from Homelessness in Ballarat’ campaign and we’ve just won a Government grant to move it forward,” Ms Rivett said.
The Alfredton Rotary meets at 6pm each Monday at the Lakeview Hotel and welcomes all interested in being involved with the club’s projects or becoming a member of Rotary International.
