Emergency services were called out to the incident at 1 Kenworthy Place about 9.30pm to extinguish the blaze.
“Six appliances (fire trucks) from Sebastopol, Ballarat and Ballarat City Fire Brigades were on the scene,” Ballarat City Fire Brigade station officer Peter Egan told The Courier.
“It took about 30 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the blaze. There is extensive damage to the interior of the property, with some damage to the roof.
“It was an uninhabited property with a secondary search undertaken to confirm the home was empty.”
The property was under police guard following the fire until fire investigators arrived late Wednesday morning.
CFA forensics investigators have deemed the fire as suspicious.
An ongoing investigation by the Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit is taking place.
This comes mere days after Ms Goodsell’s funeral in New South Wales and memorial outside of her property.
Ms Goodsell's alleged killer Scott Cameron failed to appear for his first court case since being charged on October 8 after experiencing "problems in custody" and will next appear for a committal mention on February 7, 2019.
