Western Australia’s Hooked on Middleton has taken out the title of Australia’s best fish and chips at the second Fish and Chips Awards this week.

The Fisheries Research and Development Corporation runs the National Fish and Chips Awards to showcase its research and development for Australian fishing and aquaculture.
Senator Richard Colbeck attended the ceremony at Parliament House in Canberra to present the awards to the winners.
The judges said Hooked on Middleton was a family business big on showcasing its local area using local fish and other produce.
The state and territory winners of the judged awards were:
- Beach Street Seafoods from New South Wales
- Frying Nemo from the Northern Territory
- Fish & Chips Co for Queensland
- Stunned Mullet from South Australia
- Tasmanian Gourmet Seafood from Tasmania
- Blu by Australian Seafood from Victoria
Since voting opened in August, customers have also had a chance to vote for their favourite fish and chips in the People’s Choice Awards category.
More than 19,000 votes were received and the state and territory winners were:
- Pelican Rocks Seafood Restaurant and Café from New South Wales
- Frying Nemo from Northern Territory
- Fresh Coral Seafoods from Queensland
- Sotos Fish Shop from South Australia
- Fraggles Fish and Chips from Tasmania
- Seafood on Evans from Victoria
- Ocean and Paddock from Western Australia
