The bikes were presented at Ballarat West Police station on Thursday as police launched their 10-day, 16-event roadshow which will see them head out into the community discussing issues that matter to residents.
Chair of Ballarat Neighbourhood Watch Bill Reynolds said it was important NHW helped support police in any way it can.
“When we heard that the police did not have suitable bicycles for a program they wished to resume, it seemed logical for NHW to support it,” he said.
“The ‘Police on a Bicycle’ program will provide further security in the Ballarat city area as police will have more personal contact with the community.”
Inspector Dan Davison said the it would provide a strong presence in the community particularly around the Little Bridge Street bus interchange and the Bridge Mall.
“That kit really gives our members the ability to do far better and broader community engagement work.”
