One of the most popular Brothers Grimm tales of all time, Hansel and Gretel will be performed as a pantomime at the Buninyong Town Hall as part of the Springtime in Buninyong Festival.
Young Ballarat-based actors Maddi Holland (Gretel) and Nick Oakes (Hansel) will match their wits against the witch played by pantomime favourite Adam Turnbull.
Director Miranda Donald said the town hall was the perfect venue for the lighthearted experience which she promises will be fun for the whole family.
“This wonderful show is for all ages and will certainly be enjoyed by little ones as they will be able to sing along, clap along, cheers and boo,” Donald said.
“What happens and who they meet is a recipe for a story that will make you laugh, clap-along and most importantly experience the thrill of live theatre. It’s a great environment for kids, and we’re not having an interval, so it will run through to just under 50 minutes, but it’s a chance to sit along and really get involved in the show.”
Hansel and Gretel is past of the Springtime in Buninyong weekend which features a spring fair at the Uniting Church on Saturday as well as a junior version of the King of the Mountain Fun Run.
On Sunday, the Buninyong Botanic Gardens will play host to over 60 stalls as part of the Buninyong Village Spring Market or you can talk a wonder through Buninyong Primary School’s Car Boot Sale. You can also enjoy three open gardens in Yuille Street.
Tickets to Hansel and Gretel are $12.50 and are available online at trybooking.com and by searching for Hansel and Gretel or can be purchased on the door.
