The Armistice Living Tribute performance will recount the stories of military musicians, some of the less known Australian heroes of the Great War.
Australia’s military musicians were not only band members, but also served as stretcher-bearers and medics on the battlefield.
Pyrenees Shire library services and resource centre co-ordinator Peter O’Rourke said the Victorian Government supported performances would be a special way for Beaufort and the surrounding region to remember the bravery of those who went to war.
“Many of our men from surrounding areas went away to war. Many of them came back and a number of them didn’t. We had an instance in this area where there were 10 that went from one family and 10 that came back,” he said.
The free performances by street theatre group ‘Cultural Infusion’ will be held at the Beaufort Memorial Park at 10am, 12pm and 2pm on Saturday November 3.
The Lake Goldsmith Steam and Vintage Rally and Beaufort market will also be held on November 3.
