As part of Ballarat Police’s CommUnity Safety Roadshow, police visited Total Tools in Delacombe on Tuesday to provide tradies information and strategies about keeping their belongings safe.
Inspector Dan Davison said of the theft from motor vehicle offences in the region in the last year, 50 percent had no signs of forced entry.
“This means that tradies and other vehicle drivers are leaving their doors or trailers unlocked, leaving them wide open to be stolen from,” Inspector Davison said.
“Theft from motor vehicle contributes to 11 per cent of total crime in Victoria, and last year we had approximately 1100 theft for motor vehicle offences in Ballarat.”
