Hepburn Health’s Creswick Aged Care Facility will have purpose-built dementia unit with an additional six beds, which doubles the number of dementia sufferers that can be supported by the nursing home
Funded part of the state government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, Hepburn Health Service CEO Maree Cuddihy said demand for aged services was “increasing all the time”.
“We know design really has a therapeutic effect for all people, but in particular people with dementia, and the design of these 12 beds will be in a circular manner,” she said. “It means people will be able to wander around safely, and there’s also an internal garden with light coming in.”
It follows the state government’s $2.4 million commitment for a redevelopment of the Creswick facility.
