This time for thunderstorms and damaging winds, which isn’t a surprise given the high temperature expected for today.
As of 11.30am, it is 25.8 degrees in the city, according to Weatherzone. It is expected to reach 31 degrees today about 3pm.
Tomorrow is also expected to be hot, with 27 degrees tipped before it goes back to 15 for Saturday. It will then be another see-sawing week, with the temperature expected to drop to 14 degrees on Wednesday.
Ballarat, Ararat, Stawell, Hamilton, Portland, Warrnambool and Geelong are just some of the areas tipped to have damaging winds today, with peak gusts of 90-110kmh.
A cool change is expected to move across Victoria on Friday afternoon and night.
The State Emergency Service advises people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony
- Keep clear of fallen power lines
