Ballarat North Primary school performing arts specialist, Carly Macdonald and the entiure school of about 390 students joined 700,000 students from 3500 schools across the nation to sing 'One Song’, a especially written for Australia’s biggest school initiative; Music: Count Us In (MCUI).
Ms Macdonald said the school had participated in the “big sing” for six years and it was a great initiative because it “brings together teachers, parents, students and the broader music community to celebrate music and champion music education.’
Students at Ballarat North primary have been learning the song for six weeks during performing arts lessons and some students had learnt to play the song on ukulele.
Other participating schools included Ballarat Christian College, Beaufort Primary and Beaufort Secondary schools.
Renowned stage and screen performer Justine Clarke is this year’s music mentor for MCUI, which is currently federally funded until the end of 2018.
