With Loreto College and Ballarat Grammar School girls being only the open division one crews on the water, there was a focus on the lower divisions.
Six schools tasted success – Ballarat Grammar, Loreto, Ballarat High School, St Patrick’s College, Damascus College, and Ballarat and Clarendon College.
The boys’ coxed four open division two provided one of the most competitive finishes of the day, with Ballarat Grammar (1) hitting the line just 3.76 seconds clear of another Grammar boat after 1000m in a five-way final.
The Grammar girls’ coxed four open division three crew also had to fight all the way, edging out Loreto by 2.2 seconds.
The regatta attracted almost 400 athletes.
Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club has entered 11 crews for the next regatta on the Rowing Victoria calendar – Dimboola on the Wimmera River on Saturday.
