Brandon Lee Burt appeared by video link at the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Court documents obtained by The Courier states he faces five offences, including two counts of arson, allegedly committed at Buninyong between August 19 and 20.
Burt allegedly set fire to a Buninyong house under construction on the Midland Highway, causing $100,000 damage.
During the same night, it is alleged Burt set fire to the Buninyong Football Netball Club rooms on Forest Street, causing $2000 damage.
Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Ivan Blomeley said Thursday’s hearing was a filing hearing because of the seriousness of the charges.
He said the fire at the Midland Highway property caused $100,000 damage.
Burt is charged with five offences, including two counts of arson, two counts of trespassing with the intent to damage property and one count of intentionally destroying property.
He was charged on August 21.
Burt did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody until January for a committal mention.
