Already with a comfortable 10-point cushion going into Monday's round seven, City Oval increased the margin with victory over second-placed Avenue.
However, City Oval had to do it the hard way.
Avenue took two rinks, but still came up short by nine shots after City Oval's Ian Robinson led his rink to a commanding 32-10 win.
City Oval’s cause was also helped by Daylesford's major upset against third-placed Buninyong.
Sitting on the bottom of the ladder, it was only Daylesford's second win of the season.
Maureen Tate's rink was the key, winning 36-14. Brian Wilcock helped negate some impact for Buninyong, but his 32-16 win was not quite enough.
In an an intriguing round, Clunes and Midlands Golf could not be split – finishing 70-all as Midlands was able to offset a heavy 35-12 loss.
Creswick has moved into the top four after beating Smeaton by three shots and fourth-placed Central Wendouree dropping the points to Sebastopol in another surprise.
