He came out on top in a quality international field of 30 at Eastwood Leisure Centre.
O’Mara secured the title by defeating Australian representative Richard T'en, who has just returned from the World Kendo Championships in South Korea, in a nail-biting 2-1 finish.
The field also featured Kevin Chin, of Malaysia, and Trent Reeve, who also fought in the Australian team in the worlds.
Ballarat's Will Clow was second in the Kyu championship.
Gavin Downs, of Melbourne, open the tournament with Kyudo – Japanese archery – demonstration.
