Emergency services responded to the blaze around 4.30pm and were quickly able to contain the blaze.
Traffic is being diverted away from the incident, with a single westbound lane being closed.
This marks the third fire in the past two days, and the second along the freeway at Myrniong. As the mercury continues to rise, the risk of fires also increases.
Yesterdays blaze was caused by a discarded cigarette butt. It is not yet knows what caused Tuesdays blaze.
