The Mechanics Institute Hall was among seven community projects that received a grant from the Lal Lal Wind Farms, recommended by the Community Representative Group.
Kate Banner, who runs a coffee shop in Elaine, said the hall desperately needed a new floor and cladding.
“It shows good faith to the community,” she said.
“They’re willing to put money in so towns can grow and they can continue to do community events.”
Other recipients include the Clarendon Recreation Reserve, the Lal Lal Soldiers Memorial Hall, the Bungaree Bowls Club, Milbrooke fire brigade, and the Yendon Recreation Reserve Hall.
The Dunnstown Community Centre received $29,000 for a new kitchen, and treasurer Chris Leonard said he hoped it would be installed before Christmas.
“When you do get some money and a good opportunity like this, you plan for the next 30 years,” he said.
The fund will provide $100,000 a year for the 30 year lifespan of the Lal Lal project.
Applications will be open again in April next year.
