Caius Barrenger will next year fulfill an ambition to play with Central Highlands Football League power Buninyong.
Barrenger is poised to be cleared by Rokewood-Corindhap after choosing to stand out of football last season on the back of a transfer wrangle over his services.
The Grasshoppers refused to release the star player on the grounds he was contracted for 2018.
Buninyong appealed to AFL Victoria, but this was also denied – leaving Barrenger as a Rokewood-Corindhap player.
Grasshoppers football manager Leigh Russell said with Barrenger no longer under contract he was free to go. “We wish him well.”
Buninyong has lodged a clearance application in the first window transfer.
Bunyinong football manager Wayne Morgan said despite not being able to play Barrenger had been involved with the Bombers this year, including doing some training.
“He was great around the club, supporting the boys, and registering as a volunteer,” he said.
Barrenger, who has the represented the CHFL, has only played a handful of games in the past two seasons.
He made a comeback from a knee reconstruction in late 2017 and kicked 20 goals in the the last four games for the Grasshoppers.
Barrenger did pre-season with Buninyong in the lead up to 2018 while pursuing a clearance.
Shaun O'Loughlin will coach Buninyong for the first time next season.
