The CFA updated the status of the blaze at 7.19am today.
Despite being under control, fire crews are expected to remain on scene for some time to fully extinguish the blaze.
EARLIER, 6.45AM: An advice warning has been issued for a grassfire that is burning out of control to the the south of Buninyong.
There were 11 CFA units fighting a fire near Grenville as of 6.45am today.
The fire is burning along Buninyong-Mt Mercer Road.
The CFA says the fire is not under control and has put out a warning to people in the area.
It says there is currently no threat to any communities, but people should stay informed and monitor conditions.
The advice message was sent out at 6am today.
People in the area are also asked to keep the roads clear for emergency vehicles.
Smoke will be visible in the area.
Its is the second fire in the area in as many days, with 70 firefighters helping control a blaze at Scarsdale on Monday.
