On Tuesday, the shop brought together volunteers over the past quarter of a century to celebrate which is now just one of 110 stores nation wide. Ms Murphy and Ms Davey are two of the original volunteers who have worked at the store since opening day.
Store manager Donna Bechtold said the store held a special place in the hearts of Ballarat with every dollar spent in the shop going back into the Ballarat community.
Deputy State President Michael Quinn said without volunteers, the charity would not exist. “With 12,000 volunteers, even if we paid $5 an hour, we would go out of business,” he said.
