Alyssa has turned a childhood love of cooking in to a life-long passion and a career that is set to take her to the other side of the world.
The FedUni TAFE hospitality graduate finished her apprenticeship in December 2017 while working at Chalambar Golf Club in Ararat and commuting to Ballarat for studies, and is continuing to build her skills with a Certificate III in Patisserie.
After being named Victorian Apprentice of the Year, Alyssa was also named as a recipient of the Lopez-Lochert Scholarship for Victorian TAFE students which will see her head to Chile in January.
As part of the scholarship she will study the World of Chilean Wine course with other Victorian TAFE students, and Chilean students, at Duoc US in Santiago.
“Alyssa has a natural talent with cooking and hospitality and we wish her all the best in her future career,” said FedUni TAFE executive director Barry Wright.
The Australian Training Awards are the peak national awards for the VET sector, recognising individuals, businesses and registered training organisations.
