He returns after playing in a premiership with Wickliffe-Lake Bolac in the Mininera District league this year.
May is one four new signings, which also include Marcus Darmody (North Ballarat City), Luke Bull (GWV Rebels/Ballarat Swans) and Boe Bish (Wycheproof Narraport).
May is a Newlyn premiership player, and best and fairest.
He was a member of the Cats’ 2003 premiership side – the last time they won a grand final.
He had knee reconstruction surgery last time he was at Newlyn in 2013, when he damaged an anterior cruciate ligament early in the season.
That came after winning the Cats’ best and fairest in 2012 and a stint with Ballarat Swans in the Ballarat league when he was part of the 2008 premiership side.
May returned to Ballarat after his knee injury before joining Wickliffe-Lake Bolac for three seasons.
Bish arrives at Newlyn as a highly respected player from Wycheproof Narraport in the North Central league.
Hailing from a legendary family with the NCFL club, Bosh is a multiple best and fairest and premiership player.
He is also a former captain coach.

Bull had the Swans as his home club this year while on the Rebels list.
He played most of his junior footy at South Gambier and joins his sister Kirsty, who plays netball with Newlyn.
