He is going full-time with the Bloods after playing in a Western Region league premiership with powerhouse and his former junior club Deer Park this year.
Stevens had Melton as his home club in 2016 and 2017 while playing with Northern Blues in the VFL.
He played just the one game with the Bloods in eqach of the two seasons.
This included a match-winning best-on-ground performance against Ballarat in 2016.
A tall onballer, Stevens was the Northern Blues’ best and fairest in the AFL Development League in 2016 before making nine VFL appearances last year.
Bloods football manager Brad Jamison said Stevens was a quality player.
“We didn't see a lot of him in the two years he was aligned with us due to VFL commitments, but he really enjoyed the limited time he had with us.
“The fact we supported his VFL ambitions is why he's decided to return.
“He's got really high standards on the training track, natural leadership qualities and the versatility he brings to play forward and as a taller midfielder is going to be important for us next year,” Jamison said.
Stevens is Melton’s second major recruit, having already signed fomer Central Highlands Football League best and fairest and Ballan star Shaun Campbell from Wagga Tigers in the Riverina where he coached.
The Bloods have also named the re-signing of most of their grand final line-up and several up and coming players from under-18.5 ranks.
Melton is in its second year of pre-season training under coach Aaron Tymms.
